Distract 9 Reflection

In my opinion, I enjoyed the movie. It was a bit graphic and may have overused profanity, but yes all in all it was a very good movie. In depth story and everything. There is probably many symbols that were portrayed in this movie, and in my opinion, it shows how cruel humans are to another. Slavery, sweatshops, everything going on in the world can relate to this movie.

Design Studies Assignment #2

This is the culture jam logo I created, I mixed Google Chrome with a compass and made it "Google Chrome Compass". I was trying to show that you could find anything with Google, so yea in other words, my logo represents Google finder.

This is the business card I made for my culture jam logo. Not too flashy which in my opinion is better, but it's straight forward with the "company" I'm representing. Nice and simple.

    1.  LOGO definition: a graphic representation or symbol of a company name, trademark, abbreviation, etc., often uniquely designed for ready recognition.

    2.   Iconic/Symbolic: Instantaneously recognizable, memorable, clarity when reproduced in small sizes and can be illustrative in nature, either concrete or abstract.

Logotype/Wordmark: Uses words so that the logo easily represents the company, organization, etc. The thing that makes each logotype/wordmark logo unique is the font, style, shape and color of the logo. Images can also be integrated into the logotype/wordmark, to add a good visual effect on it.

Combination Marks: Uses both words and a symbol/icon to represent the company, organization, etc.

3.   #1. Drawing the Logo Yourself: This is a mistake because when people create their own logo, they usually rush it, leading to a poor logo. With a poor logo, customers won’t take your company seriously.

#2. Forgetting About Your Customers: When creating a logo, you must not forget that our trying to appeal customers, not yourself. You must figure out who your customers are, male or female, single or married, young or old, these are a few things about customers that could give you an idea of what would appeal to them.

#3. Looking Too Much Like Your Competitors: If your logo looks similar to another, than it won’t attract much people. Making your logo unique will give people the idea that you are different than your competition, have something different to offer.

#4: Thinking That Colors and Fonts Don’t Matter: Colors can represent you’re companies greatly, such as green for freshness or maybe red for power, strength and excitement. Fonts are a very important aspect as well, you want to make sure your logo is readable, but original.

#5 Trying to Communicate Too Much With Your Logo: Make sure that your make your logo clean, simple and original. Those aspects are very important for a logo, adding too much in a logo can create miscommunications to what you’re trying to get the customer to interpret. But you also have to make sure that you make your logo unique and memorable, if it’s to simple, then people won’t really care for it.

4.Fast Food Restaurant: I chose Burger King because the logo is pretty straightforward with what they offer. Also, the creativity of making the logo a combination mark is a nice touch to it. Anyone who is in the mood for fast food will know that this is a good joint to be in.

 

Sports Team: I chose this logo because it caught my eye. It’s very creative the way they incorporated two images into one. This logo shows both which sport it is for and what country it represents without the text needed.

 

Favorite Soft Drink: Besides the fact that I chose my favorite drink, the logo is very nice for it too. The logo cover the whole can and is very appealing to the eye. Nice and simple, but very original.

 

Real Estate Company: I chose this logo because it attracted my eye. The smplicity is very nice but the image itself is appealing.

Shoes: This logo is very cool. The way they connected the letters together to make an image was very creative and smart.

 

Favorite Chocolate Bar: The logo is this is simple enough, but if you look closely, the mountain has a bear figure inside of it. I think they did that to represent where the chocolate’s origin.

Favorite Bottled Water: This bottled water logo is well created. I’m guessing that the mountains imply that the water comes from glaciers.

Favorite Car Manufacturer: Thos logo caught my eye. I like how they used text as the logo, it’s simple, but I like the look of it. It’s the Volkswagen logo.

Cloths: I’ve never seen this logo before so no bias, but it was probably the best clothing brand I’ve seen. I love the way they made a cloth hanger into a duck.

Favorite Bag of Chips: Most of the logos of bag of chips weren’t really that interesting and the same for this one, but I chose it because the name of the chips is straight up ad they incorporated the sun into it.

Oil or Gas Company: I chose this gap company logo because I still remember it from the first time I’ve seen it, and logos are suppose to be like that.

Computer Company: I chose this logo because practically the whole world knows this logo, as do I. It’s very famous and is easily recognizable when you see it.

5. Quest Crew Logo-

a.      I chose this logo mainly because I like what they do. It’s a logo for a dance company, and though I might have a bit of I bias I do like the way the logo looks.

Final Project Photoshop

What I did for my final project was make an attractive girl into a zombie. This is the girl I chose and here she is before I start photoshopping.

I used this photo for her eyes and parts of her body.

I used this photo as a background.

I used this for her skin.

I used this just for a finishing touch, a scar on her face.

And this is the final product of my work. Not the best I have to admit, mostly because it doesn't resemble the original girl much, but with the time I had, I can't complain to much.

Final Project Illustrator

 

This is my rough sketch of my final project. It's called the sharingan, which comes from the anime Naruto. It says betrayal because to gain the full power of the sharingan, you must kill the person you love most.

This was about half way to my finished project. Originally I wanted to keep the essence f the original sharingan by making the prime colours red and black, but I also wanted to put a bit of my own twist on it. At this point it sort of resembles an eye, but there was still much editing to do.

This is the final product for what I've been working on. I added a few tweaks to the eye to make it more appealing and more realistic (or at least as much as I could). I say I did a acceptable job with making my sharingan and it was quite fun to make.

Adobe Illustrator CS5 Five Things I've Learned

Five things I've learned:
- To use gradient, press the box at the right that says gradient, click the box inside of the gradient window, and then you can move the gradient around to your liking when you press the gradient button on the left.
- You can reverse the gradient with the gradient reverse button inside of the gradient window.
- You can change the colour by selecting the object your that is gradient, and then using the swatches to change the colour to your liking.
- Using the grid inside of the gradient, you can alter the gradient to make it look more appealing. Just move around some points and the gradient will morph depending on how you control the grid.

CS5 Five Things I've Learned

5 things I've learned:
- To draw things such as a triangle, click the three spots where the edge will be to create it, and then click it in by click the edges again.
- To create curves, click, hold and drag the handles to do so, to take them away click the starting point of your line.
- If you want to make an object or something, if you can apply it, you could use the reflect tool to save time, Just draw half of the object, and reflect it to the other side of it.

CS5 5 Things I've Learned

 Five things I've learned:
- You care able to create a perfect square and circle if you hold shift while expanding the shape, you can also move it if you hold spacebar.
- If you use the arrow keys can change the type of shape (such as a 3 or 4 pointed star). This also works if you want to create bigger swirls and with the gird making.

First 5 things learned in CS5

CS5 in my opinion seems like an easier program to get your projects done, rather than photoshop.
- not pixel based so everything looks clear no matter the magnification.
- you can do many things on one layer compared to doing many different thing to each layer then adding them in.

CS4 to CS5 Comparison

CS5 contains much more features, but the two I'm going to talk about is the multiple art board enhancements. Each art has its own ruler and you can now organize your art work with the art board tab/window.  The other is the new web design features. This gives you a pixel grid where you can adjust the pixels of your image with the grid to make it more sharp.

What other projects could you do that use photoshop in a manner different than usual?

The example of taking an attractive girl and creating her into a horrific beast beast just shows the possibilities of photoshop. Taking from the example, if you are able to create a large alter on someones face, then why not do it to a whole environment. I'm pretty sure with the editing that photoshop offers that you would be able to create a nice preschool environment into a demonic playground. Thats not only a way to put a fun twist on photoshop editing, you could also create images of people that are repulsive or even funny. It all depends on you and your creativity in photoshop, you are not chained down into only making things look good with photoshop like the rest of the world does.

Puppet Warp Feature: How could you use this tool?

This feature seems to be very handy in multiple situations. The possiblities of this feature is endless. You can create cartoons with this feature. Get some characters and then start warping them into doing things, kind of like a flip note. You could also use this to edit things that you don't like in a picture. Say that someone has their head tilted in a picture where they had to have good posture, you could simply turn on the puppet warp feature and tilt said person's head to give them good posture.

What additional features does he like and how do they work?

He enjoys that you can create any text into 3D at his command. He also likes the various things he can do with the 3D text. The base on how to start making animated text is going to repousse and then going to text layer. From there, after choosing the shapes and colors of the text, you can then go onto the shadow of the text to make it that more realistic. Then you can go to the ground plane and angle the text to match the picture your editing. And finallygo to ground plane shadow catcher and you will be able to create the shadow of the 3D text. Go to scene settings and then quality you will be able to see a draft of the shadow, and when your pleased with you work, you can go to the final mode.

What are Russel's top 5 features in Cs5?

1. Painting. You can see a preview of the paintbrush your using in 3D, you can brush over a photo and even blend colors together, and many more. With this you can either make make a photo into a painting or create a painting from scratch.
2. Puppet warp. Thus feature allows you to practically control bodies that are on pictures you are editing with ease. You can make the body do different posses, create muscles, and many more. You may even be able to use this feature on objects such as bars, trees, etc.
3. HDR pro. With this feature you are able to edit a huge amount on a photo, but yet still keep the essence of the photo.
4. Masking. With this feature you can completely make an object, figure, person, or what ever you desire into something like a sticker. You can move the "sticker" anywhere you want on the picture.
5. Content aware fill. THis feature has the ability to fill in spaces on your photo that could be left after editing it. Say you wanted to take away some kind of distraction in a picture, you have the ability to completely remove the distraction and make the photo still look natural, like it was never there.

How do you use content aware fill?

There are 2 ways to use content aware fill in photo's. If you want to fill in spaces left by lets say tilting the photo to the right angle, select the transparancy with ctrl+click and then go the the select button (top of the program) and choose inverse. From there Go to select again and this time choose modify, and then choose expand. Try to make the photo overlap the spaces by choosing a high expansion (say 10), then press shift+delete key to open the content aware fill and then press okay. Take away overlapping distractions from a photo, you can either use the spot healing brush tool and choose content-aware at the two bars under the top of the program and erase away.

Photoshop Lesson #4

Layers in photoshop are parts of a picture that can overlap each other. To create layers in photoshop, all you need to do is make a new project, look at the bottom right of your photoshop program and edit the first layer. To fill the background with color, all you have to do is select the layer in the layer box and then go to the top left and you'll see a colored bar, click on it and change the color to your liking. You can add more layers by pressing the layer button on the bottom right of the layers box which is right beside the trash can icon. To create grass on a new layer, press the paintbrush icon at the left (it will be the 8th button going down) and choose a pencil tip that best suites the type of grass you want to use. To move layers, all you have to do is click and hold the layer you want to move in the layer box and drag it where you want it to be. And lastly the opacity can be used to see layers behind of a layer (make a layer see-through). To do this all you have to do is select the layer you want to be transparent, and the opacity button should be right above the layer box.

Photoshop Lesson #2

The palletes: are the colors that you are able to use during your editing. They can be located at the right of the photoshop program and if you're unable to see it, try pressing tab and see if a small window pops up.
Arranging palletes: you can drag the pallete out of the window if you wish, or you can even put the pallete tab in a different area on the window. Not only that, but you can also drag all of the contents in each tab and attatch them together (in the window, or outside if it). If you like your layout of the pallete, then you can save it by going to the top of photoshop and pressthe window button and go to workplace, and from there just press the new workplace button.
Resizing, showing and hiding palletes: once you drag the pallete out of the window at the side, you are able to extend it or minimize the colors shown by holding the bottom right part of the pallete and dragging it out or in.
Closing, opening, and reseting palletes: if you close the pallete when you dragged it outside of it's window, no need to worry. To re-open the pallete, just go to the top of photoshop and press the window button and then jsut re-open the pallete that you were using (color, swatches, style). And if you want to reset, anything you put
Setting options in palletes: I didn't catch how to set options in palletes, or I misunderstood what I am supose to say.

Photoshop Lesson #1

You can start photoshop by simply clicking the launcher icon on your desktop. From there you are practically have your basic starting area to do your work. You can either choose to edit a picture of your choice or create you own picture by pressing the file button on the menu bar (menu bar located at the top of the program, file button loacted on the far left). to save your work, just go to the file button again and choose save as. You can either save the work you've done as a shortcut to the work you've done in photoshop to continue to edit if your not done (the format will most likely say photoshop), or you can save it as an image on you computer if you are done (the formot chosen will be JPEG). Now to close photoshop, you can either close the image you've been working on by clossing the tab located two bars down from the menu bar, or you can close the whole program by pressing the red exit button to the top right. that is the basics to useing photoshop.

Best Photo From Flickr Photo Stream

I this is probably one of the photo's in my flickr photo stream i like the most because it's simple, yet very complex. This photo could have been used in multiple assignments, but the one it was taken for was assignment 5 (maximum or long depth of field). It's pretty clear that the photo was focused on the cup (also known as the subject), and the subject is appealing to look at. The one thing I wish this photo had was no distractions. As i said before this photo could be used for other assignments, but I really wanted this photo to be made ONLY for assignment 5.
